Pavor Patio Hardscapes in Stafford, VA

Designing and building paver patio and surrounding patio hardscapes are our specialties. We’ve got years of experience with many homes here in Stafford VA, adding values to properties of our very satisfied clients.

Design & Planning

Everything starts with design and planning. And it all happens when we sit down and talk about your custom patio design, the hardscape you envision and your patio walkways.

Preparation

An on-site walk-through is important within this stage of planning, design and preparation in order to be clear with where the paver patio hardscape will be laid and how we will go about doing the work with minimal noise, obstruction and disturbance.

Foundation & Paver Finish

Here’s where our physical work starts. The foundation is essential for the stability of the whole paver patio, otherwise, subsidence and pooling of water can occur.

Design & Planning

Everything starts with design and planning.

It all happens when we sit down and talk about your custom patio design, the hardscape you envision and your patio walkways.

We’ll talk about the area and dimension of your envisioned patio design. We’ll talk about what you want to add on it or around it.

It’s an important conversation as we’ll be mapping it all out for our crew to work towards when we get started.

Design and planning also include a discussion on the materials. Based on your design preference of paver pattern, we’ll be able to narrow down the best paver material to use. You may choose a simple Jack-on-Jack or Running Bond patterns. For a more stable positioning, you may opt for the favorite Herringbone or Pinwheel. Stamped pavers are also there to choose from.

From the pattern of choice, you may consider laying brick, cobblestone, veneer stone, flagstone or cut stone. Each has its unique character, durability, ease of handling and cost we’ll need to consider.

With design covered, we’ll talk about the timeline of construction with the starting date and the target date of completion.

Preparation

The next phase is getting our material together, prepped for the start of patio paver and hardscape construction. We’ll be sourcing our choice of patio paver material and filling sand, tools and equipment reserved for the work project according to plan.

An on-site walkthrough is important within this stage of planning, design and preparation in order to be clear with where the paver patio hardscape will be laid and how we will go about doing the work with minimal noise, obstruction and disturbance.

We’ll take care to watch out for any possible accidents that might lead to property damage. We assure you we’ve also got any accidents of this sort covered with our insurance should anything happen despite our diligence with care and caution.

We’ve put in all the stops to remove any risk for you.

Laying Out the Foundation & Paver Finish

Here’s where our physical work starts.

The foundation is essential for the stability of the whole paver patio, otherwise, subsidence and pooling of water can occur.

And it all starts with marking the outdoor areas where the patio pavers will be laid with strings tied on wooden pegs. The lines that span the area diagonally also determine the accuracy of the angles of the patio dimension.

This is also the time when we pull out and relocate any sprinkler lines under the areas.

That’s when we dig down eight inches off the topsoil for a six-inch layer of paver gravel base and an inch layer of sand on top of it. This allows water to slowly seep into the ground when it rains, preventing pooling from happening.

We make sure we bury the electric cabling you’ll be needing for lighting in your patio if that’s part of your design.

We also use interlocking paver base panels instead of gravel that speed up work as your option for paver patio construction. They are lightweight, don’t require a lot of digging on your backyard and the pavers are placed on top.

The ground is also designed to angle out into the outer areas of the patio or away from the house to direct rainwater out.

The process ends with finishing it all with polymeric sand in between the paver stones.
